Motherblood, a short play, is an encounter between two mothers, one who is Israeli, the other is Palestinian, both of whom have survived significant losses. They struggle with each other, sharing a wide range of feelings regarding their complex personal and political situations. This is a meeting that changes these two women's lives. It promises to move you as well.

"This amazing dramatic performance breaks through all the rhetoric on both sides of the Israel/Palestine struggle and leads us directly to the humanity and fundamental decency of most people on both sides. It's a perfect opening to a serious conversation about what we can do to build a lasting peace with justice and security for both sides."

- Rabbi Michael Lerner, editor, Tikkun and author, Healing Israel/Palestine

Robert Lipton has a book of poetry, A Complex Bravery, from Marick Press (2006). His poems have appeared in New Orleans Quarterly, Human Architecture, and the Texas Observer, amongst others. He writes journalistically for the blog Muzzle-watch.org and has published the essay Bearing witness in the promised land in Live from Palestine. He works doing public health/medical research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and writes on the philosophy of science/causation.

Eran Segev plays various Middle Eastern drums, and has performed with Boston-area and visiting musicians including the Tami Machnai Ensemble and San-Francisco-based Qadim Ensemble.  His greatest musical inspiration has always been the Moroccan born Shlomo Bar, who elevated ethnic eastern music to the mainstream in Israel and continues to serve as a teacher from afar.  In Boston, Eran studied Middle Eastern and North African percussion with Karim Nagi Mohammed at the New England Conservatory of Music, and has since been exploring Armenian rhythms with Mike Gregian.

Boujemaa Razgui (Marrakesh) is a multi-instrumentalist. Boujemaa performs all Arabic music styles, from Andalusi, N. African, Oriental to Folk. Boujemaa was a very well known performer in both Paris and Montreal before moving to America. With Sharq Boujemaa plays the Nay, a reedless baboo flute with large finger holes.

Eran and Boujemaa share a passion for music and a belief that the message of music transcends boundaries.  They have a close and warm connection whenever they play together.
